Say if i was to buy a non runner, engine buggered and it has been converted to a bigger engine size. Would it be ok to change the engine to something smaller?

it was just a 1.6 then converted to 1.8GTI

i swear i read somewhere that if you fit a smaller engine that lowers the tax bracket you need a report... they'll want proof as to why you aren't paying as much road tax

hmm, could be right. But you said it had been previously converted to a bigger engine, so originally it was smaller right?
