I fitted my 1.6 16v a while back and have finally got everything up and running. The car has been SORN as the tax ran out while i was doing the conversion. Anyway i sent the documents off with the new engine number on and it came back saying i needed to tax the car. I tried taxing it as a 1.6 but its registered as a 1.2 so i cant do that. Does anyone know if i have to tax it as a 1.2 then send off the tax disc to the DVLA and they will change it to a 1.6 tax and i pay the difference? Any help would be appreciated.

its seems a bit strange it might need taxing twice though.

I have a mini which i converted from a 998cc to a 1275cc from a cooper.
All i did was fill in the log book about a change of engine size, sent it off, a couple weeks later, got the new log book back with the new engine size.
Suppose the tax code never changed though.
