Quite frankly its being a total coont

Put some penetrating oil onto it, left it 15 mins & tried again. Still wont budge.

According to Haynes:

Jack up, axle stands in, remove wheels, use the jack to raise the arm slightly to relieve pressure, undo bolts, lower jack, remove spring

Is there anyhting I should be doing other than this?

Is there enough access to slide something over the wrench to give greater leverage?

Not really no

Why are these bolts on to tight

On one side of the bolt its square, that is right isn't it

matt... the right side yeah ????

get a mate to stand on the drum pushing it into the floor (disconnect the bias valve first) you should just be able to get a powerbar in, i did this with a 24" powerbar on sunday

Vauxhall I guess

This is my runabout, its pretty much standard. Putting some lowering springs onto it.

Will go look for my big nasty bar

If u are just putting lowering springs, just undo the top mounts. I needed to remove my rear Koni Adjustables to change their settings, but couldnt shift the bottom mount either.

I just undid the top mounts and lowered the back axle. Watch u dont lower it too far tho otherwise u'll rupture the brake pipes

New problem:

I apparently need a 18mm deep spanner. My local parts shop doesn't sell them

Any way around this?

You want an offset 18mm spanner and a 9mm socket
