Hello all.  I am a regular on mig and astra-sport and seeing as the mrs has a corsa, thought I would sign up here to see what the crack is.
Anyway, down to business.
The 1.2 sxi corsa is ok as a second car but I am sure the engine will eventually die due to short runs from cold all the time.
Does anyone know of anyone that has put a different engine in? i.e. something bigger, a 1.8 or a 2.0 for example.
T.V. has the 1.8 conversion corsa in this month, but whats all involved with each engine. Is there one that goes straight in with not too much fannying about?

if you want easiest the 1.8 from another corsa is the way to go.

Welcome 
Why should it die from short runs  admittadely short runs wear the car out quicker, but just let it warm up before entering the higher revs and it should be fine for a long time

Was always led to belive the short cold runs would knacker the engine.
is the engine from the 1.8 mk4 astra the same as the corsa 1.8?

If you hammer it from cold then yea it will. Short runs won't knacker it on there own...they will just increase the wear.

The wife drives it 1/2 mile to work and 1/2 mile home every day and I cannot guarantee how she drives it.
Its either she takes the corsa or takes my turbo, so IMO, its the lesser of 2 evils!
