my car is in for its mot 2moz, and im just wondering if it will pass on its emissions

the engine (c20xe) is pre cat, but ive had 2 put a cat in as its in an L reg car, 2 give it at least a chance of passing its emissons. ive put a sports cat in that i had on my 1.7 16v puma, do ya think it will do the job or do ya think i will be getting a call?

how have you guys gone about it?

does it have a lamda sensor?

if its a pre cat engine then you shouldnt have to put a cat on it at all. however proving the age of the engine is a problem.

explain to the tester that the engines out of a pre cat car, as its a l reg you can get away with a cat test, any car before 01/09/1995 can be done as a non cat

will i be restricting it much at all too?

ive had a decat pipe made at the same time, so i was jus gonna get rid of the cat after the mot, but i just wondered if i would see much differance performance wise after decat, as the engine was never designed 2 have 1 in the first place. the engine i do belive id out an astra gte, as its got a coscat head, but like you say, proving it is the old block is another task in itself

take it to another mot station, if they do it properly it doesnt need a cat as the c20xe engine code isnt listed for the corsa, therefore it has to be a default cat test which isnt till 01/09/1995
