its still leaking
no way as bad, but still leaking, but just down the back of the engine. ( starter motor side )
a mate said it's the gasket again but i followed it all step by step.
any one know if it could be anything else on that side of the engine?
cam cover gasket is fine, water is fine, no overheating,no loss of water, drives fine, dont smoke, sump gaskets fine, dont cut out.

Did you have your head skimmed? Possibly have imperfections in the head causing the leaks, and not the actual gasket.

what is it leaking? water or oil?
did you do all the headbolts tight? when i did mine they felt tight, but there was muck down the bottom of the hole so the headbolts were bottoming out and not tightening down on the head itself, if that makes sense

leaking oil, yer the jead was skimmed too.
i see what you mean rob, i torqued them all then angle gauged them all, but 2 of them did not feel tight, so i angle them once more and stilldid not feel tight.
so i left them, did not wanna over tighten them.

cracked block ?
unlikely but an option. im sure you cleaned the mating faces properly and got the head skimmed etc... theres some oilway inspection points on the head, not sure if theres any on the back of the head, ill check later. might be one of those leaking.

gonna have another go at it to sort it and if no luck then it goes to the garage. blame them then if it leaks again lol.

Been driving it every now and then to do important things and have been checking the oil, but on idle the oil light flickers some times, on a slant it flickers some times and stays on for like 2 secs on start up but the dip stick on a fairly flat surface reads 3 1/4 full
any ideas?

oil light on could be:
low oil pressure or dodgy oil pressure sender.

the light will come on for low oil as when there is no oil, there is no oil pressure.
amazing the amount of people where I work that come to me asking about their car, 2 last week said they had their oil light on ALL weekend and didnt know what to do

not people that work at my place, its more like:
oil light on, ignore for 3 days, car starts to rattle, see Dave at lunchbreak in the office, get told they have fucked the engine possibly, drive 15 miles to petrol station and buy wrong oil, drive back to office, ask me to put it in because they couldnt get oil cap off because engine is so hot its melted into the cam cover
Im being serious, that actually happened
