Yeah I think I like the idea ov tuning a 16xe eventhough the cash flow might not last as long. Cos everyone seems to drop redtops in.
Cheers for the opinion mate

when uve fitted it you will notice a diffrence but the ecu does need remapping. the engine needs to be strenghtened as the rev limit will b raised. ARP bolts will be needed and SBD rollers

The rev limit isn't raised unless the car is re-mapped.

Is that really true? Surely you will need to remap the ECU in order to see the maximum power gain possible from the manifold, however it does not need to be remapped in order for it to give you a power gain does it? Dont most people who fit mantzel inlets etc not bother remapping their ecu's?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-C16XE-X16XE-XEL-PerformanceBox-Inlet-Manifold_W0QQitemZ280017053736QQihZ018QQcategoryZ72205QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Are you sure the engine internals would need to be uprated? That is if you dont feel it necessary to rev the engine right up to the limiter in every gear every time you drive the car?
Also there is a huge price difference on regals site between the manifold for the X16XE and the X14XE, when these engines have an identical inlet manifold as standard, also check out the part numbers for each on Dbilas' site, they are exactly the same! WTF?

yes davey_jack it is true to get the most out of it, it will have to be remaped with a Unichip. the engine has to be strenghtened if the rev limit it raised as its only suppost to be reved just over 6500rpm. you wouldnt want your engine to fall apart now would you! the reason people raise the limit is that the car will produce more power. And i dont think people leave the ecu standard because they want that extra power
the powerbox thats on ebay is a Mantzel copy thats why its cheaper. it depends what you want from the car. A Lexmaul will give the extra power around 4000rpm where as with the dbilas gives it at 5000rpm but the dbilas will give a better power gain

You do need a re-map to get the best gains out of the inlet, as matt said. There is a significant increase without a re-map. And, most people who fit these don't re-map. As i said the increase is noticable.
If you re-mapped it, you would be better raising the rev limit, as the power gets pushed up the revs. If you do this, metal cambelt rollers and ARP rod bolts are a good idea as already said.
The best thing to do about the prices is actually call regal and ask them. But, in my experience they aren't very helpful.
Try calling Mantzel, very helpful.

i dont think theres much of a gain witout a remap dean, my mates got a sport 1.6 only mods are an induction kit and if he gets infront of me the distance always stays the same wether i have my induction kit on or drilled airbox. so i would say a remap is best.
how ever in saying that i have creamed a rover 216 and there 109 bhp as standard and he was hammering that

Yeah I understand you dont want your engine falling apart as they arent designed to rev that high. All I'm saying if you fit a modified inlet, you would still see a considerable gain without remapping, and I posted the link to that mantzel copy because they backed this point up.

as a said davey all ive noticed is that it pulls harder to the red line if my mate gets infront of me with a 1.6 corsa i cant catch up with him and vice versa. altho in saying it pulls harder to the redline i prob would catch him if i had a straight road with nothing in the way. if you fit one of these get it remaped its for the best! im in the process of getting parts together to get mine remaped as it is

so a re-map is the way forward!! so wat do most ppl do, get the uni chip?
So the reason for avin the rev limit raised is to make the most ov the inlet, especially wiv the dbilas cos it dunt kick in till 5000rpm?

Ye maybe about 4,7 i can vouche for that as i've got one ... Mines goin for a raised limiter soon... Altho it kicks so late, i think it gives more torque/power
