Just coming home from work, sat in lane waiting to turn right, and my engine management light came on. As this happened the rev-counter became possessed and revving up and down upto 1000rpm. When I got home light is on constant and revs are bouncing between 500 and 1000. Also when I turned car off and then started it up again it was like it struggled to start - up Anyone out there had a similar experience, who can offer any advice as to what it could be???? Cheers, Aboo.....
p.s car is a 1999 't' 1.6 sport. 62k if that matters?

sounds like the idle control valve is playing up. Get the haynes manual out, find out where it is, take it off and give it a clean with carb cleaner

it sounds too me like it could be a problem with your cranksensor. this will cause problems with the revs and if totally shagged will stop car starting.
