fao all engineer type people.......
right, my c16xe head......the heads coming off soon for the rebuild, what shall i ask to be done for maximum performance??....
so far im requesting,:
*the head to matched to inlet/exhaust manifolds (keeping venturies)
*polished ports

apparently, its advisable i get an extra oilway drilled??....
and posibly the valves ground to a spacific angle....

what is the best comp ratio to get it skimmed to??....10.5/1??

cheers

the c16xe head is a very good design anyway. the ports are much bigger than on an x16xe and according to SBD is fine to use as a standard head.

I would spend my money on a good rebuild. had a quote yet for all the headwork?

all depends on the plans for the engine spec really.

unless you are getting tb's or mantzel and aftermarket management making the ports huge isnt going to gain much.

well.....just want the ports cleaning really....there still rough from the casting....there seems to be a huge lip where the head meets the 4branch too..

i didnt think it would make much difference wether im planning on a mantzel of not, it still uses the original lower inlet does it not?...

but if you spend the money polishing the ports in the head ( a rough finish is better on the inlet, smooth on the exhaust) then to get any gains it is reccomended to do the inlet manifold to match.

think about it, the inlet manifold tract is about 10" long. why polish the last 3" in the head

no need for oilways. mine revs to 8k rpm+ and never had problems with oil starvation.

as for the valve angles, you can get the seat cut to a triple angle, provides a better seal when the valve shuts.
