be a bit more precise, what is it made of, what thicknes, what material you welding it to, what thickness is that, what experience do you have welding?

at a guess id say the slam panel is about 16awg thick, lets say you are welding it to another piece of clean 16gauge steel, then use a mig (metal inert gas) welder, low amps, 0.6 or 0.8 mm wire, and an argon mix gas. say, cougar 5 (cheap as chips)


I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

whats the differnt between a gas one and a normal one what dont use c02 i was thinking of getting one with out c02 what do u feel about them or no about them cheers

Whatever you do don't get a gasless MIG. There won't be as much fusion with gasless and not as much heat.

Gasless MIG will do the job as it's not a structural part though won't it? It's only spot welded on...?

I've never got on with them personally.
