Money tuning an ECOTEC to be as quick as an XE is a WASTE IMO, start with an XE and spend the same amount of money tuning that as appossed to an ECOTEC and it will be a much better result.

Only down side i suppose is age and condition.

But then ECOTEC hav far to many sensors than whats needed so problems still occur

Ecotec were built to meet new emissions regs. the engines and internals are exactly the same except the bits for emissions control etc

conversions the same, both xe or eco..

different head, smaller ports or something etc etc, built to meet the emissions requirement as said..

still very tunable, more sensors to go wrong than xe's, but newer engine, so power will probably be on par with most xe, due tyo age...

can be picked up very very cheap too, as not as slought after as xe's

134bhp as std.
There decent engines, ok they have a few problems with sensors playing up, i'd rather replace a sensor than a XE cylinder head thats porous tho

xe head's only go porus due to people over-tightening the head bolts

Is that a proven fact?
How can a head go porous on an engine that hasn't been touched in the past?

Has anyone who has slated ecotec engines actually thought about what they're saying, or is it just because you think you're right?

yeah, and they're all good, or people wouldn't be getting 200bhp + from a 1.6

The X20XEV is just as good as the C20XE, people just think it isn't...
