Right, I've got a Corsa Sport 1.6 x16xe with a de-restricted and drilled (on inner wing side) airbox (was the standard one) and a K&N panel element filter.

Now, the thing thats pissing me off is fuel consumption!!! I'm pretty certain it'd do anything between 80-100 miles on a tenners fuel depending on how you drove.

Now it'll do 60 to 65 miles with "average" driving (bit of nailing bit of sensible)... which is doing me nut in. Since had a catback exhaust on so cant even hear the induction roar that much anymore so not too fussed about that... just want the best performing yet economic solution. It was doing that MPG before the exhaust by the way as I drilled the airbox purely for noise lol

So:

1) leave as it is?
2) get a standard airbox and DONT de-restrict it?
3) get a standard airbox and de-restrict it (dont drill though)
4) get a BMC or similar enclosed air filter

remember I want a few MPG back lol... what do ya reckon guys?

re-restrict it or replace and see if it makes any difference to performance

get a standard airbox and DONT de-restrict it with holes keep in the panel filter you've got unless you want replace it. just improve the front airfeed to the standard box (with no holes in it)

I feel better now i read this. Coz i've just got about 65miles for a tenner.

Glad it's not just me.

I'm not bothered though coz i have a 2.0 DTi astra that i can use if i want economy (though i only get about 35mpg tops ).

80 miles would be SO much better... i dont really go anywhere and put 50-60 quid a week in lol wish it was a bit cheaper...

Might try get a boggo airbox to test with leave it completely standard, then de-restrict and see how it does
