Right, had a play & it is but it won't connect to my network?

It finds it, then asks...

WLAN security setting:
None
WEP
WPA-PSK (TKIP)
WPA-PSK (AES)

Then asks for either the WEP or WPA key

Enter that

Address settings:

Easy
Custom

If I go onto easy it says "A connection to the access point could not be established. Check the security settings for the wireless LAN.

Help!

Why does it list a wireless option then? And why when it searches does it find wireless networks?

Matt, you need to download the latest firmware first, as the wireless is a bit flaky. Also, i've read that using the security settings doesn't help and that it can hinder connection.

On mine, I disabled security on the router and PS3, but used MAC address filtering so only pre-approved MAC addresses can connect to the router. Its all working brilliantly now.

Firmware for the ps3? Does that when you register doesn't it?

I did have it connected to the cable, but it was too much messing about with cables everywhere

Is it easy to change to a MAC address?
What is a MAC address

Go to the Wireless Management menu under the Advanced tab.
Click Enable Access List.
Enter the PS3 MAC code
Click Allow.
Then click Add.

Make sure you Add and Allow the MAC address for each networked PC and laptop, and that you disable the security.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Getting a MAC address for your PlayStation 3
From the PS3 main menu screen, follow these steps:

Select Settings.

Select System Settings.

Select System Information. This screen will display your PS3 MAC address.

Lol.
On the PC...
Go to network connections.
On the network connection that you use, double click to bring up the connection status, click support, then details. The "physical address" is the MAC address.

On the PS3....
Go onto the network settings
CLick the settings and connection status list.
MAC address is near the bottom somewhere

It doesn't matter, it should give you the physical address regardless. Just click all your network connections, and add all of the physical addresses.

You sure?

Go to run, type command, then type "ipconfig /all" without the ". It should give you a list of the network adaptors in the PC, along with the physical address.

Matt, try disabling security on the router, then go through the setup procedure for the wireless network on the PS3. Also, make sure that universal plug and play is enabled on the router (uPnP). uPnp will be on the advanced tab

For some reason, the PS3s have issues with WEP and whatnot, and its been recommended just to use MAC filtering
