You need to get a 2 year contract, after paying $500 for the phone.
I can't see it being less than 300 here, more than likely nearer the 500 and the contracts will be a joke.
They'll still all sell out though because it says apple.

You need a contract with an unlimited data plan.
After paying at least 300 quid you only get 4 or 8 gig of memory depending on what one.
You will then be paying at least £60 a month contract, i'd have a guess at more, for 2 years.
Who keeps a phone for 2 years these days.
Will that even last for 2 years?
No changeable battery.
Screen is a dodgy aspect ratio and how many videos and mp3's will you fit on your 8 gig?

Yup but only a 4GB video ipod i.e. not a lot of storage if you are used to a 30/40/80GB ipod.
I think when it comes over here it will be cheaper than expected. Most phones over in the US that are $300 etc are given away for free over here. Its one of the few industries where europe is ahead of the US and competition is much greater.
I am sure the iPhone will do very well but I think it will take a few releases to start to complete with similar PocketPC phones etc. Too many functions like 3G, GPS, Using phone as a modem, no custom ring tones, wireless function is limited etc etc.
