they cannot afford to cut prices as they are already losing money on each one, and the sales figures suggest it really hasnt been selling

What, so they are going to keep prices high so they sell hardly any and recoup no money. Not good business sense!!

Or they sell them for a bigger loss, but sell a lot more of their current stock and recoup a lot more money.

just seems that the european market doesnt matter, asia and usa gets the 80gb model for less than what we pay for the 60gb and they get vouchers to get 5 free blu ray movies aswell.

apparently theres a 90% increase in sales over in america due to the $100 price drop. Sonys top 5 retailers are running out of stock.

I'm going to have to try REALLY hard not to make this sound too much like a dig, but seeing as the price drop is designed to CLEAR STOCK of the now discontinued 60GB version that does not surprise me.

Plus a store selling 10* PS3's now selling 19 is a 90% increase. Pity the wii / xboxs are still selling 3 times that

then give the real numbers of consoles being sold if you know Xbox's are whatever are selling 2x, 3x 100x more than the PS3.
