was left on so went into stand by clicked for it to come on then clicked the user box and it shut down now it wont come back on. If i take the power cable out for a bit then put it back in and try again it makes a noise as if its gonna start but doesnt

Could it be the power board?

10 minutes to get the case open and take out the old PSU. 10 - 15 minutes to change.

Did i mention the 60p per mile my company charges?

I'm sure Mark and myself can come to some sort of arrangement if he wants me to look at his PC..

Graham you can get a 400W replacement for about £17 or £15 for a 350W. I have a spare and working 250W you can have for nothing if you want it. Not ideal but should get you up and running if it's the PSU.

Depends on the pc, i've had 10 quid 500w psu's in past systems and everything has ran fine, still going infact.

Others blow quickly etc etc, my current one has a 70 quid psu.

Best one i've had is a 40 quid akasa that was silent.

Mines is a hyper something or other, went for modular instead of a cheaper non modular with the same ratings or a better non modular one for the same price.

I won't be again, waste of time imo, cables aren't any tidier than a normal one.

obviously he wasn't going to fit something expensive gor that, and yes at work we fit £10 psu's all day long and never have any issues.

most standard home pc's wont need more than a 400w really anyway
