What are the tell tale signs that front shocks are fucked? Really need to know this asap  cheers

When changing the spring should the rod fall back into the shock (coilovers by the way)

Well mine make squelchy noises...so i assume thats gonna signify they're fucked! 
'Standard' test is to bounce the car, and see how quick it stops bouncing...

also there could be fluid leaking from the shock have a close look and inspect it

ah they bounce and if i go over a dip deep enough they bang aswell. The rod dropped by its self when i changed the springs over Now the kids trying to say they were fine on his car even tho they were totally the wrong poundage springs...... Anyone know if its possible to rebuild gaz shocks? or repair?

The ride will be really bouncy if your shocks are gone.
As for the rod sinking back into the body i dont think thats too much of a problem
|
