Thought would start a thread about how to use Newsgroups.
You will need a newsgroup client and a server to connect through.
client- I use Grabit.
Get it Here
Once downloaded you need to set up the servers, these below are payable services.
http://www.giganews.com/
http://www.newsdemon.com/
Your own Isp has its own newsgroup servers.
searching newsgroups-
http://www.binsearch.info/ is a catalog of all the servers (where to get the .nzb files from
http://vcdquailty.com/ new movies that have been uploaded
http://v3.newzbin.com/ another catalog of everything that has been uploaded
cant be arsed to go into more detail but you should get the idea.,

Copy n paste from the other thread:
You can use Newshosting for my provider ($15/month or £7.50 in real money!)
It DL's all through a program called: Newsbin Pro (should be able to DL a evaluation version somewhere then DL a crack full version through it! )
And you can use www.newzbin.com or www.merlins-portal.net for .nzb files (which you load into Newsbin Pro)
There is also www.newzxxx.com if you're after that kind of thing!
Merlins Portal is free - just register
Newzbin you have to buy credit but it's pence/week and you get access to newzxxx with that aswell.
I'm sure you can work the rest out for yourselves - it's quite simple

I just find it frustratingly slow just to update the contents of the servers So I gave up. I just use torrents.

I use www.easynews.com which has a web front end, so you can download from any computer with a web browser.
It also automatically unRARs collections of RAR files so you can download the file direct, auto checks and fixes files using the PAR files before download. Can add lists of files to ZIP files and download those.
And it's got a global search engine to search through all files in all newsgroups.
I prefer it because all the stuff is in 1 place through a browser, no need for other programs etc.

im either really stupid or just being simple, probably both, but i can't understand the pricing on either newsdeamon or giganews - is it monthly or until your bandwidth runs out or what?
And with the giganews 'Diamond' package, am i right in thinking you get 20 connections plus 10 more with the SSL part, so 30 connections overall?

I know they are fast and everything but I still can't grasp the paying to download illegal stuff when I can do that for free.

thing is, they are no faster than private trackers and torrent sites, they are much slower to update, and you have to pay. wtf is the point

no, but you're paying for the SSL encryption, which is probably worth it, especially if you don't fancy get bummed by the BPI

What were you paying for before that was announced today?
I'll wait till my isp sends me a letter before I start worrying.

still the encryption, everyone knows from day one that there is a chance that they could get caught whilst downloading illegally via P2P. It's just now, some ISPs have upped the anti and starting to do something about it.
It won't be long before SSL is used on torrents, then there fucked unless they change privacy laws.
