Last night my alternator belt came off but never snapped so i pulled over and put it in the car and took the car straight home, so today i went out to put it back on but it seems the belt is much much to long to go round the pulleys properly.. its seens as though its a belt for power steering and air con but it hasnt got air con but the belt should fit as its the exact one that came off?
any ideas or anyone got pictures of how its ment to go.. i think iv put it all back on the right way but its still way too much slack in the belt
x16xe engine btw

the way that seems most proper and made the belt the shortest was going from the alternator pulley, down to the tensioner, around the tensioner and up to the power steering pulley, around the power steering pulley and down to the bottom pulley and then back up to the alternator.. thats the way that seems as though its the best although i have tryed all other ways it can go and still the belt is way too long

I was taking mine off and puting it back on last week so I still remember how it goes.
Get a few good piks with plenty of light so we can see where youve put the belt.
To get the belt on you need to pull back the tensioner anyway so if your not even doing that an its going on youve v likly missed out a pully.

just bought a new belt because i thought that maybe this one had stretched, the new belt is slightly shorter but still to long.. it seems as though theres a pulley missing?

Where the biggest pully is in the pik, on ine i htink it had another pully of similar size directly below it, so it went around the top one then verticaly down round the bottom one then back up to alternator

right its all back on now and i left it idle for a few minutes and it seems as though the belt is slipping off the tensioner when its spinning.. is there suppose to be a lip on the tensioner to keep the belt on because theres no lip on mine

Yeh should be a little lip, there looks like theres one on yours though looking at the piks you posted, have you put it on exactly like it is in that pik?

yeah exactally the same.. i can see how it looks like a lip on the pulley in my pics but its all smooth, the white bits which look like a lip is just white marks from the writing off the belt

i cant see how the lip would just wear away on the pulley though? it clearly hasnt been rubbing on anything

Check to see if the tensioner is fully tight as the belt shouldnt budge when its tightened back up and also once it passes over the tensioner its praticaly right next to the other pully so that should also keep it inline if you get me.
Bit weird this
