Just paid off my credit card, £1500, should i keep it open with 0.00 balance or just close it alltogether?

does eitherway affect credit scoring?

Paying mine off the end of the month, always a good feeling

I normally close mine and have a break from temptation

Neither way does. If you have strong will power, use it once a month for say...£20 petrol, then pay the bill straight away. Do that each month and you'll get real good credit

Keep it but use it like a debit card - I never spend more on it that I either have in the bank, or have coming in shortly...........shouldn't be a problem.

Yeh i thought about just keeping it for emergencies etc...

The £20 thing a month would be a good idea, just use it and pay it straight back off. Cheers

Keep it for distance ordering of things as you're then covered by the ccard insurance.

Like XL going bust. People that booked holidays on cc will get it back. those that paid by debit will get fuck all.

Why? As long as he has willpower then he should keep it IMO.

Use it for small purchases and as Myke said if you are ever buying stuff from a company that might seem a bit dodgy, you are covered to a certain extent.

I do

If you don't spend more than you earn - how can you loose control?

.......I don't get how some people are so careless they spend thousands and thousands and happy to pay 30% interest on it all then complain their bank has hit them for unfair charges when they go overdrawn on their current account
