Ever since i have had corsas i have used 15 40w mineral oil when servicing the car but went into linco today and they said you should use this 10 40w semi synthetic will this be ok ?

yes thats what vauxhalls use fro the factory

10w 40 semi synthetic is what you should be using anyway
