yes you can you just have to re route one 1 wire to some where else, think it might be one of the transducer wires, shudnt be that hard really its just abit more extra work

its basically replacing the engine on a car tbh you will need
1.4/1.6 engine and box
1.6 or 2.0 brakes
ecu
loom
transponder
chip for key
whole exhaust system or custom
front engine mount
i think that maybe it

I'll say it before anyone else does - why not just go for the 2.0?

i could do the conversion yes, BUT i cant garantee a running car after as i have to cover myself, i can get the car to the stage where it should run, but i cannot do anything if the engine that you have bought is faulty in anyway if you know wat i mean (but i would give it my best shot lol) that rarely happens tho it shud be easy.

If you're doing a 1.4, you'd be as well throw a 1600 in - don't make the same mistake as me!

what mistake did you have then?
if its just because the 1.6 is quicker then i would rather have the 1.4 tbh, is that the only down point?

Yes, for the sake of what is in essence the same engine I don't see why anyone would do it, apart from me that is

heard the 1.4s are good on fuel etc, and i dont fancy a 1.6 tbh, decent 1.4 16v is what i want , few lil tweaks and it will be fine
just dnt want it to cost loads

What have you done to your car that isn't easily transferable?
Isn't it just wheels and suspension? If so, I'd just buy a 1.4 16v Sport and transfer my stuff across to it, as its much simpler, probably cheaper, less hassle and you get the added benefits of electric windows and mirrors etc, and a better interior.

bit more involved in wiring than a normal swap into say a 1.2 8v..
the ecu etc is in the bay, so need to move all wiring inside to footwell, and match the wires up

The EPAS rack is identical to the regular manual racks so its not an issue?
