Ive put another ECU in my car due to having a chip i wanted to put in, but my current ECU was a late one, so that meant i couldnt put it in.
Ive got another ECU from an earlier 1.6 sport and the ring for the ignition barrel.
When i turn the ignition on, the engine management light flashes and the car just turns over on the starter motor.
I havent got a new chip for my key, but my key doesnt have a chip in it anyway
Any ideas anyone of what the problem could be???
Thanks

But my key doesnt have a chip in it either, and it works with my original ECU.
Could vauxhall possibly unlock it in any way by any chance??

Does your key look like this - http://www.muswellhill-locksmiths.co.uk/image/keys%20picture/2page/AKK206_200x180.jpg
Or, this - http://premium1.uploadit.org/DavesCavCDX/Key-and-fob.JPG

It does have a chip then, if it's the original key, how old is the motor?

You will have the same problem unless you have a matching ECU, chip and pickup for around the ignition barrel.
Afraid the ECU is pretty useless without the matching chips and pickup, usually cheaper to get a new one than trying to get the one you have unlocked

You CAN NOT use a early ECU in a corsa that uses the later type ECU. Even if you got it working the car would go into limp mode as the knock sensor wiring is different on the pre and post 97 models
I have a chipped ECU but it was for an early X14XE and i have a 99 Sport and wouldn't work.

Oh no!
So the only way to change the map of my car would be to get an actual live re-map then by the sounds of things...?
