When the car is in gear, there is a huge play in the gear stick......anyway of sorting this?

Most of the play is likely to be in the gear linkage, do you know where to look?

all gear's engage as they should....but when it's in gear, the gearstick goes from side to side quite abit

Worn linkage You can get repair kits that replace the bushes or just buy a new complete linkage

its prob the bastard linkake under ur gaitor inside lol my m8 changed hhis one on his sri coz it wiz a porridge steerin gearknob..but dinna quote me on it lol

What car?

Every Corsa B (and Vauxhall of a similar age for that matter, 1993-2000) has had a wobbly gear stick in gear. My missus' Fiesta one isn't though. Just thought it was a feature of Vauxhalls.

Probably you. Mk4/5 Fiesta gear sticks are really quite tight
