What kitchen knives and holders do you guys have.

My dads really into cooking and has asked for a new set of knives for xmas but i dont know where to start :S

any ideas welcome

i'd rather have a "propper" set of knives instead of a gadget shop special. i fancy myself as a bit of a chef tho.

I've got 12 Global Knives in a chef's sleeve as well as a standard (AWT) chef's set in a roll.

I collect kitchen knives!, the missus buys me a Global knive for every special occasion, Birthday, Christmas, Anniversary etc.

Got a sabatier knife block from john lewis iirc. cant remember price, but they werent cheap.
