I have manifolds available for the small block and big block xe's and the 8v roundport (se) heads, they are made to run R1 carbs.

ring up boggs bros in yorkshire, they make r1 carb inlet manifolds for practically anything. if youre willing to travel they'll do an in/out conversion everything included for about 800£

45's are too big for a 1400. 40's will be fine and with a mapped ignition should see 15% bhp rise. Remember, a touring car only has a single 38mm inlet! If the inlets are too big then you don't get the correct airflow throught the venturi and this is detrimental to performance.

Twin 40mm Webers with 32mm chokes would suit. You will also need to get them tuned before fitting them if they are new. This will balance them so they flow the same amount of air. Then get them tuned by someone who knows what they are doing.

Just to ask, i presume the only option for the ign is to run stand-alone management.

No, but it is advisable. A Megajolt is more than sufficient and comes in at under £200
