Car = Corsa B - 1.0 (2000)

Reasons for refusal of a Test Certificate...

001 Nearside front suspension arm has excessive play in a pin/bush [2.4.G.3]

002 Offside front suspension arm has excessive play in a pin/bush [2.4.G.3]

003 (lower u j joint) Steering system has excessive free play detected at the steering wheel (steering rack fitted) [2.2.A.1b]

004 Offside headlamp aim too high [1.6]

They have quoted me the following...

Ugc Strg Jnts Range = £27.99
Ugc Strg Jnts Range = £34.99
Electronic Alignment = £26.07
Headlight aim = £10.75
Labour = £45.97
(no quote for Steering UJ until next week)

Im looking to save as much money as possible so i can just get rid of the car with as much profit as possible.

Could anyone tell me if these are the Suspension arms i need (LH) & (RH)

What the electronic adjustment involves and means?

Where i could get hold of a Lower Steering UJ for a Corsa B

and if the headlight aim is a DIY job?

...

Any advice / help is appreciated

I got a phonecall a few days later with a quote for the Steering UJ - apparently it only comes with the rack from the dealers so i would be looking at around £300....!!!! I was like your having a laugh? I obviously refused and went out looking for a steering UJ myself - an hour later i found one - £10 on ebay.

I also got hold of the suspension arms (2 for £30) instead of 2 for £63 like they quoted me.

I then got them to requote and after a bit of haggling got the new price down to £184 - thats minus the suspension arms (cause i bought these myself) and the headlight aim (cause i done this myself) plus an extra 3 hours labour (thats how long they rekon it will take them to fit the suspension arms that i got and the steering UJ). I also got them to throw in there puncture repair service as i have a slow puncture and i got the MOT retest for half price.

Altogether this has cost me

x1.5 MOTS = £52
x2 Suspension arms = £30 + £8 P&P
Steering UJ = £10
Labour = £103.99
Electronic Alignment = £19.55
Puncture Repair = £6.43
Tubeless Valve = £2.75
Wheel Balance = £5.28

= £230...

It would of cost me around £550+ if i didnt get the parts myself and have them lower the price!!!

Im happy...ish
