if you know the place, book it in. if it fails get them to do it as a pre-mot check? not sure if that works though.

Well that's odd. My car's Mot ran out 18th January, i got it MOT'D on the 17th, it failed. The guy just gave me the keys and told me what it had failed on and that was it.

He did'nt say to me that i could'nt drive it nor did i sign anything. I drove it straight out of test centre and I got everything fixed. Then i re-booked it for the 19th January.

The car failed on a rear tyre and the exhaust had a major leek of of gases. lol.

if your car fails you will have 10 days to get it repaired for a free restest.

if you read this on the faliure sheet it should say...

if left with the garage to be repaired within ten days a free retest can be carried out.
something along them lines,
when your car fails the DVLA are notified that your vehicle is not safe for the UK road and if you get caught driving that vehicle you wil not have a valid MOT

wrong!!

yes you can get your car tested a month before it runs out but if it fails it is decleared 'unsafe'

you cannot carry on using it it will need to be trailored to a garage for repair.

doesnt need to be trailored

i belive your still covered if driving to a place of repair, possibly a grey area though

same as if you didnt have tax, you are insured to drive to a place to get mot'd (to get tax)

yeh i think he is actually but i think you have to have proof that its booked in to the place of repair,
just to cover your ass if you were to get pulled you can ring up and prove that your driving to a garage

i made a mistake in what i said actually about getting it trailored.
As we dont do MOt's at our work we take them to a Mot station to get done and they are driven back when they fail,

actually hes the only one who is right. well almost. if it fails you have 10 working days to get it retested or it will have to have another test.

but a failure doesnt cancel a previous pass. yes vosa could look to see what it failed on if you were stopped by them but its not illegal to drive the car.

no one can cancel a pass when it is issued not even vosa

National Tyres MOT'd my fiesta. It failed.

I was given the keys and allowed to drive it away. I signed nothing and was not informed that i shouldn't, never mind couldn't drive the car away.

I drove it for 3 days, fixed the problems myself and returned it for a re-test.
