Hi, i drive a 1.0 12v corsa and i have a resonator in my engine bay i was just wondering what is the prupose of a resonator, some people have said it acts as a muffler. What will happen if i take it out? Thank you.

Take it out and see mate I took mine off and everything seems fine. It's probably there to soften the lumpy sound of 3 cylinders 
Try and get hold of a cold air feed from any other engined 97> model, so it won't have the bit coming off (which I taped up  ) ot just take it off altogether
I tried taking my resonator apart with a hammer and screwdrivers but bits just kept chipping off
