Does it run if you wire a 12v supply direct to the coil?

How do you know it isn't getting 12v to the coil? And if you know this, why replace plug leads?
I'd put a fuse between any direct feed from the battery as if there is a short in the coil you are getting burnt fingers or worse, an exploding battery.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

You have tried fuses? borrow a coil from a mate and try that?

got 2 working coils iv tried both of them its not the coil thats not giving 12v the coil doesnt seem to be recieving any power to it at all, im not really sure which fuses i should be checking and where they are other than the fuel pump one which is ok
