depends how broke it is. to change the barrel you need to turn it to position 2 and poke a small allen key in a hole to release it. if its fecked and you cant use the key you need to hammer a big screwdriver into it and turn it somehow

have a look on here, ive used them for lots of parts for my corsa allready

http://www.vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk/acatalog/Corsa93-Steering.html

lock surrounds are between £20 and £25 all you then have to do is cut the bolt holding the old one and an replace the surround and barrel at the same time

The professional way is to drill two 2mm holes on each end of the key slot then use a thin piece of steel rod to 'jiggle the waffers'..

My not so professional way is to cut the end of the barrel off with an angle grind then dig the middle out, works every time! just makes a mess in the car

Oh and if you choose to cut it off make sure you ONLY cut the barrel and not the bit that holds it to the column!

think i would be best getting a car electrician out or a mech tbh because i know im going to course more damage than doing any good with a drill or an angle grinder i was hoping i could do it with a screw driver and brute force , thanks for the help

get a pic of the new barrell up and i wil show you where u need to drill.

literally stick a drill down the centre of the keyhole and wiggle it about abit, will then come out so you can fit the new one

Mine actually did this last night! Just the end of the barrel doesnt pop out when you remove the key, then when you put the key in again it wont turn, so the WD40 came out and as long as you wiggle the key and make sure the end pops out its fine

Although you might have a different problem than me lol

basically put a drill bit along side it and put some tape onto it to mark how far in youve drilled.

mark the tape on the drill bit to where the red line is.

will take a bit of fiddling with the drill bit and little mess but will just drop out.

dont drill to far in though as you will end up needing a new column

oh and the plastic cap where the key goes in comes off, may make it easier for drilling?

hope it helps

seriously just bang a big flat ended screw driver in one with the nut on the handle so you can put a spanner on and just give it a heave

the little hole you poke a small pokey thing in is above the barrel it pushes down that little spring loaded thing so the barrel pops out needs to be turned to 2 to do it though

I see the possibility of a fair amount of damage here. The cost of the barrel holder is shocking from vauxhall too.

Pm me if you need any parts and I should be able to help you out.

Good luck dude!
