When i have at least 2 passengers and when pulling off/accelerating there is the most painfull grinding/rubbing sound from the back, I don't really know what to look for tbh.
new 40mm springs and shocks were put in 3 months ago and the noise only started a week ago
Any ideas folks?
Thanks

how often have you carried passengers in the rear since having the newer susp fitted?
could have just bedded down fully...
sure sounds like wheels scrubbing

wouldn't have thought it would be the wheels at -40mm, unless the offset is incorrect. don't know what else it could be though
is part of the arch lining rubbing on the wheel or something like that??

could be exhaust rumbling/vibrating against the beam mine did that with a few passengers.

I've carried passengers quite a bit, and it isn't the wheels because theyre only 3spoke sports.
I had a look and the exhaust clamp above the rear beam looks to have slid down slightly...could this be the problem? might move it back and put a few lock nuts on to see if it solves the problem

That didn't really work you can still here the exhaust knock of the rear beam going over bumps with no passengers lol
How would you make the exhaust sit higher underneath the car?

You need to undo the mount the twist the back box around until there is enough clearence then tighten it up again.

Just noticed a slight problem with that though...someone has put about 4/5 spot welds where the backbox joins the centre pipe wasn't me btw
when underneath the car you can push the whole system up and theres a good bit of clearance, just wondered how I could get it to stay up?

you could always put an innertube round the rear beam where it is hitting to stop the banging

If i heard grinding from the back of my car, i'd check my wheel bearings!

Yea I'll check the bearings,
I could also raise the exhaust system over the rear beam by replacing the backbox exhaust hangers with jubilee clips, only thing I wondered was would this give the exhaust no give going over bumps??
(just trying to think of solutions here lol)

has the sound went away? i'd be more worried about that, then my exhaust.
i put a strip of rubber on my rear beam, that shut the exhaust up when i had that problem, try just getting shorter rubbers, and getting it hung up correctly.
I hated my standard exhaust for ratteling.

Yea think we're for taking a proper look at it tomorrow, very wet atm. Will check the bearings and then look about different rubber hangers
