here is my audio setup atm:
-JVC head unit, only 45wx4 but it's only temporary.
-Vibe Slick 69 speakers. 525W maximum and 175W RMS. They are 6x9 and so bassy, that I have took my subwoofer out as it is not needed any more. Can people tell me if this is a good set of speakers for a high quality audio system?
And when my angel eyes sell I am going to buy the Vibe QB69 speakers, 200W RMS and 600W maximum soon and install them. Ratings on these?
I am considering sound deadening too, don't worry, but this is not until I have at least 4 speakers.
Future plans:
Pioneer head unit with at least 50wx4 rating.
Amplifier powering at least 2 extra 6x9 speakers.

you'd be better off with 4 coaxial or component speakers and a sub
with everything amped
ive got vibes all round (not expensive ones) 200w
currently not got my sub wired in or eq adjusted but as it is it sounds good

I'm not after a subwoofer just yet although I do own one. I think I want to add more speakers first to bring out the music, make it louder. Before I make the bass loud too, if you get what I mean. The bass seems to overpower the speakers.
So I want to make the speakers very loud before I concentrate on bass. Are they good speakers to start with? They cost me £70 and the new QB69 speakers I may be purchasing depending on your opinion, will cost me £80.
Can you explain how an amplifier is able to make the speakers louder? I have used one on my subwoofer before but I do not understand how it can make a speaker louder than what it is. It's just I have an amp laying around doing nothing so I might as well hook it up to my 6x9's then...cheers
I was powering a 1000w pioneer woofer on it, so there's no worry that it won't handle 2 6x9 speakers.

its entirely up to you,
the way i have gone is 4 speakers 2 amps and a sub
if you are getting the 6x9's i would recommend no sub
an amplifier makes the sound signal stronger meaning the speakers can be much louder than just running off the headunit
ive got about 6 wires running through my car atm.

ok, cool. Erm, well I'll add speakers and see what the quality sounds like. Got the 2 on my parcel shelf atm, which IMO, is too far away from me to hear it. It's not quiet, I crank it up to 43/50 and it only starts to distort at 44. I would just prefer it louder, lol.
So I think I will add the amp to my current speakers, then when I get new ones, put them closer to me, the door card fibre glass trick, might try that one. I just don't want theives to be able to steal them easily.
Cheers, I'll install my amp again today and see if I notice the difference, only problem being, my amp only has 2 connections, 1xnegative and 1xpositive...and obviously I have 2 speakers, would I have to only boost one speaker, or can I safely run 2 speakers from 1 connection? The amp's rating is 450w and is made my alpine.

i was worried it might be designed for subwoofers. damn, what should i be looking for when buying one to power 2 (maybe 4) 6x9 speakers?

its 1 channel per speaker
but you need to make sure its big enough to power each speaker

so obviously I need a 4 channel amp to power 4 speakers...so when it says the new speakers I am getting are 200w RMS. Does that mean both speakers make 200w RMS or each speaker makes 200w RMS? because i will have....375w RMS to power then, what sort of amp power do i need to power this?cheers
Also, how do i tell if it's designed to power a woofer or speakers?

multi channel amps are for speakers or subs
mono's are really just for subs
as for power im not too sure its all new to me too

sub in boot, amped up (10" for tight punchy in car bass, 12" for volume, less punchiness, 15" for noise)
decent coaxial / components all round also amped up

so is that 4ohm in total, or 8ohm? I'm not sure if 1 speaker = 4ohm or the couple of speakers make 4ohm.
So that means I have either, 4ohm or 8ohm currently...damn lol
I can see why people serious about audio, get an amp per set of speakers now

right 1 amp for 1 sub (mono or 4 channel - yo can bridge the 4 channel 1)
get 2 channel for each pair of speakers )or 4 if you want toa gain bridge the connections)
i always go by rms value, so a 300 watt rms sub will need a 300+ watt rms amp
loudest.com, allegedly had 1000watt rms 6x9's afaik, whether this is true or not is debateable a si bet sound quality was appauling
