frosty morning
just started ibiza, let windows defrost
went to move it off drive and it feels as if the handbrakes sticking
the hand brake wont pull up no more than 3 or 4 inches either
any ideas?

Got shite in the drums. Pop them off, brake cleaner on the shoes and drum to get it all out. Stick some copper grease on the slave cylinder where it touches the shoes and re-assemble. You could put some WD40 on the cable where it comes out from under the car too, but that wont be the sole cause.

Will still use a drum-esque system for the handbrake though, which will be inside the rear disc.

i had this on the focus, only on cold days.
never got round to finding out the problem, as it always fixed itself.
felt like i was trying to pull away with my foot on the brake still.

Most cars have a internal drum system if they have rear brakes. Mums A4 doesnt though and the handbrake cable pulled on the calipers. So could be worth checking.
Handbrakes shouldnt pull up too far, the one on my datsun only goes up 2 inches if that.
