What can I use?

A till is a little impracticle, and a printer is far too slow and costly (ink costs).

What would be the cheapest way to print out a reciept for goods i'm going to send in the post?

Ideally want it to have a business logo, company number and VAT registered number, as well as a contact details (could do this via business card though).

Thanks for any help...

To be honest, a cheap laser printer with a 3000 page toner is about £150 nowadays, and you could just buy pre printed letterheaded paper from Vistaprint. Would be super quick then....

I've got a couple of laser printers in the garage. Not sure if theres any toner in there though, might give them a go!

How much can you get stamps made up for nowadays?

Was talking about stamps as in "PAID" "SHIPPED" etc with ink pads

Custom postage stamps sound cool though!

Even so, I need to figure out how to use the franking machine

Get some integrated labels on your laser printer.

Then set up a word template with address in the sticker, you then print off invoice, peel off sticker and stick it to your letter.

Nice and quick and kills 2 birds with 1 stone

Can you not get one of those receipt printers like in shops where they use heat to print on the paper?

Then use a program to run it and run it via USB?

You wouldn't use that kind of receipt as a postage invoice really.

As said, use a laser printer and get some speciality stationary. Nearly everything you get these days comes with one of these in the packet:

I've had a bit of experience with thermal printers.

Fairly expensive to buy but after fannying about setting them up it's not too bad.

Can normally take a range of roll sizes.

Do Dyno not do some kind of receipt printer? Our 'standard' label printer is excellent.

Depends what size of receipt we're talking though, I thought you meant till receipt

I'd just go lazer with proper paper etc. We have a Brother at work and it's forever replacing toner, belts, drum units etc.

Whereas the Dell we have had at home (3000cn) hasn't missed a beat and only replaced consumables i.e. the ink.
