Bearing puller's the easiest way if you've got one I think.

Just try to pull it straight, Knees at the bottom, hands at the top/sides.
Takes a bit of tugging still.

I'm having the same problem, mine just won't give!!! The same tips I seem to be getting from people is basically what you've been doing, hit it from behind with a hammer and pull really hard lol.
Just remember not to remove the nut completely as when the steering wheel does finally come off you'll get it straight to the face!

With the nut still on a little bit to protect the threaded bit, hit the steering colum really hard a few times usin a soft metal drift, brass or Ali. And the steering wheel will be loose
Worked for me!!

i just removed the nut completely and kept pulling and banging it with my hand and it eventually popped off
but i've also had to bash it with a mallet before it would come off

I removed a wheel off a scrapper before by threading the nut on back on a little, seat all the way back and kicking at 9 and 3 o clock with my feet. Soon popped off!

Surely that's just kicking it on even more as opposed to pulling it off???
