are they exactly the same? im thinking of putting a 1.6 in and need to know if you have to do anything with the loom?

id imagine their the same tbh. should put a 1.6 head on a 1.4 block

There the same, just obviously the ECU will need to be changed.

Will even run and drive ok on 1.4 ecu but yes, you should change ecu, transponder and chip.
Looms are identical.
Heads are the same but diff cams iirc.

Not always the same, depends on the year, some run single wire knock sensors, others have 2 wire as well as a few other bits, iirc early 1.4 sports had a brown and gray plugs on the ecu, late 1.4's and 1.6's have white and red.
