Been having problems with a sump leak since i got my engine back. I replaced the gaskets last week,2 elring cork gaskets with a bit of gasket sealant. it seemed to be seaping through the baffle plate when the car warmed up. Pain in the arse. Anyway i've read up a few forums and the 20ne rubber 1 piece gasket seem to be the only cure. I'm just about to put it on and i have cleaned both the sump surface and block surface free of old gasket seal. Now im in two minds whether to put any sealant on it at all now as i thought the rubber would take to the bare metal better. My dad is saying use a bit of grease. I'm thinking use nothing or a tiny bit of gasket seal. Can anyone who has done one give me any further tips? i really cannot be arsed doing this job a third time. Just for the record i am aware the rubber gasket is slightly thinner so i am using washers and i am 99.9% the leak is the sump as theres no oil on the flywheel(crank seal leak) and theres no sign of oil on the crank pulley side or anywhere on the block for that matter, its leaking at the front nearside corner of the sump, i watched it seep from between the 2 gaskets earlier. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers

Most put the rubber gaskets on dry and it seems to do the job, if you do use gasket sealer use only a small amount as if it oozes into the sump it can break off and then will block your oil pickup which will cause a shed load of damage.

If you order it from autovaux they will supply shorter bolts with it so you don't need to use washers
