rite bought a 1.2 8v as a non runner had it running while towing it home but took a long time to get going check that it fuels sparks and the timing is right off the starter it is trying to start but struggling after taking the plugs out and cleaning them they were oily so it is apossibility that it is head gasket causing the compression to be to low to run but not sure i need this running shortly so any help is appreciated thanks

if you want help try make it easier to read, chances are more people will take the time to give you a hand..

if you suspect HG then i suggest you try a compression test, check the water for mayo aswell as thats a sign of the HG failing.

how much oil was on the spark plugs?
have you checked the injectors to make sure they are ok?
are you getting enough air in? ie check airbox isnt blocked

Check the big fat breather pipe behind the rocker cover hasn't split it's L shaped and common failure and will stop it starting.

There's nothing to these engines so if the head gasket has gone, it'll be a great engine to practice on.

How do you know it's getting a spark?

It should still start with a knacked head gasket, but it will miss fire.

Are all of your plug leads on in the correct order? Have a look at the dizzy cap, and rotor arm if it has one. Make sure it's in good nick.

Nothing wrong with a 20XE bud, this is what mine went like.
