need one in our conservatory as it's ridiculously cold now, but whats the best to get? they have all different heat outputs ranging from 0.5kw to 2kw.
ideally something around the 50 quid mark.

We have one, they stay hot for a while after you've turned them off which is good and they give off heat like a normal radiator rather than hot air like a convector heater. Take a bit longer to warm up in the first place though.
Argos usually have a good range, just buy whatever is on offer. Don't leave it on too long though, a 2kw is going to blitz through electric.

oh ok cheers, you reckon a 1kw one would be best? conservatory is quite small.
heard the 1.5kw ones cost about 20p an hour to run which isnt that bad

could do but for the cost, it's not really worth it.
it's quite small and old so if we stay here a few years we will knock it down and get a bigger one as it gets quite damp in there.

Fair doos, sounds like it needs some heat in there anyway, if its damp that might sort it. an oil filled will be better than a blower giving out damp warm air.
I put a radiator in an outhouse for someone a few weeks ago, they had a 1kw in there and it was more than enough, it was warmer than the rest of the house, that was 13ft square, concrete floor and single brick

If you've got a costco near by have a look in there; picked up 1kw for about £15 last year and it works well.

I'd Just shell out for the rad. Do you dry clothes in the conservatory?
You can get those economical plug in radiators. The oil filled ones use an insane amount of elec.
I tried doing similar in a bedroom with electric heaters. Eventually I gave in and upgraded to rads.

You must be doing something wrong, We have one running everynight during the night on med setting and use less than £2.
Great things, far better than the ones that blow out air and rape ur elec bill

phil, we dont dry clothes in the conservatory as its so cold and damp, but that would be one of the advantages of getting some heat in there.
currently have a clothes horse in the living room and it drives me insane looks awful when people come over

I upgraded the rad in my conservatory but the heat output isnt that great as its microbore and the last of the line! Its the age of thing of heating a conserv you are fighting a loosing battle or heating the atmosphere above it lol!
I have 5 halogen lamps for ligting they give off just as much heat lol!
