hey everyone, on to my second corsa now after a range of cars and i must say its like my first car all over again lol anyway i just done the cambelt, tensioner, idle pulley and water pump and since doing so ive had a ticking/rattle coming from timing case, gonna take it in to work tomorrow and check it out. question is has anybody had a dodgy waterpump or idler or tensioner straight out the box, im hoping to check it all out tomorrow anyway but just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. cheers

Make sure the tensioner is tensioned anti-clock wise. I'm sure if not it interferes with water pump pulley

Seen a few at work on diffrent cars, check it before it fucks up though

well i manage to check it yesterday, stripped it all down and run it with the timing case off to try and pinpoint the problem, it sounds like the water pump bearings but upon trying to take off the tensioner to check the bloody bolt stripped as usual lol, so new tensioner and pump me thinks. cheers for the replys guys

if i remember the tensioner bolt is a torx? i used to replace them with a 13mm bolt.
if you tightened the tensioner too much the water pump will whine

yep thats exactly what im gonna do, drill off the head and fit a different style bolt, is it just a normal 13mm bolt or does it have an unusual thread pitch?? the pump dont whine its like its ticking. still need to check it properly once i get the tensioner off but thats for the weekend i think.
