i think it would be very close.
i hate french cars. but they are really light compared to the corsa, and since book figures are not all that accurate i think the shitreon paxo might have the edge.
plus the corsa SRI 8v will be much older and probably have much more miles on it.
i got a SRi BTW, just being honnest but mine ain't an 8v
But at the end of the day these two cars are fairly equally matched so its the talent of the driver thats gonna give the real edge.

1.4 8v 0-60 in 10.2 secs. faster than a 16v, plus its a much better engine.

depnds what you mean by better, i think the 8v will have the least amount of running problems and will cost less the fix if it goes wrong.

0-60 is not a good test of an engines capabilities, i cant believe people still use these for basis of arguements.

does it matter kerzo its just shorter
an no the 8v is not quicker than a 16v my mate has a 8v sri an i got t-reg 16v sport we done a quater mile run up the local industrial no1 goes up there an its good place to do it he never beat me i never got miles ahead but enough so he could light his fag from my exhaust fumes haha eat dust
an u say about drivers we swopped cars an had another go an he beat me this time so 16v won both times i think this is a good enough experiment an worked well.
1.4 sport 16v 90bhp 0-60 = 10.5 secs top speed 112 though i had 9.88 at santa pod on standard engine
1.4 8v sri 82 bhp 0-60 = 11.8 top speed 107 these figures are from goverment statistics try there sight also parkers is same apart from top speed states 108 from 8v
but then again all cars are close low down if we lined every car on the market in a line an did 0-60 they would all be so close to each other

when they bought the 16v version out, it was fitted with a load of restrictive air boxes, reason for this was that at that time the astra was bought out, and they wanted the 16v corsa to be slower. 8v is better engine, in terms of, if u blow an 8v engine, it will cost half the amount to repair than a 16v

what about 1.6 16v gsi against a vtr and vts?

gsi is bout equivalant to a vts, the specification of engine is the same, both 1.6 16v.
faster than vtr though. apparently saxos are relatively slow off the mark, and the power only kicks in high up the rev range. i know my sri isnt much slower than my bros vtr

not everyone knows a lot about racing and engines. I only know cos I come on here so much. 0 - 60 is good for basic comparisons.

answering the original question betwen the furio and sri!! The sri is faster, i raced my mate who has a furio, and my 8v sri beat it by half a cars length.

16v is faster, it has more power and torque..... why would it be slower
the only thing better about the 8v is it is cheaper to fix cause it's alot more simple ( and less valves and that).

besides they are all pretty slow (1.4 16v,8v and furio)
they're nippy but that's about it IMO.

Theres not really alot of difference between an sri 8v and a saxo vtr either really, 8v with 82bhp and saxo with 90. I can keep up with my mates saxo, just his kills me through corners, and is lighter.

WTF
its 30-50 and 50-70 which are better, 0-60 mihgt be brilliant, but if it tops out at 70 then whats the use. at the end of the day who races just from 0 then stops at 60???? noone does.
