My 1.4 16v is lowered, and just had mot they said right spring had gone.
I phoned demon tweeks to order some spax 60mm springs, he said i should only put 50mm springs on as the engine is heavy anyway.
So i ordered them, but defintely want it to look like it does now."in the arches" if u kno what i mean!
So is the guy right?

I think a brake cable fouls on the rear axle when its lowered 60mm its in the max power Haynes
What make of 50mm springs are they offering you and is it just a pair as I might need a set soon

The brake problem is with the brake bias valve, it works by how much load is in the car, as the suspension goes down as it should when loaded the valve opens and brakes more at the rear, lowering fools it into thinking ya got a heavy load and puts full brake pressure to the rear which aint good when the rear is in reality light.
Let me know what springs ya get i want -60mm for my GSI but carnt find any that dont say not GSI, every other corsa but GSI

to solve the brake valve problem you can make up a bracket to take the valve back to a normal ish position, there is a guide on how to do it in the Haynes Modifiing Corsa Book

u car is lowered (spring & shox) 60mm at the mo, so may i ask why you are buying a 50mm spax kit?
and also do you not think manufacturer's take into account engine waith when deciding on the spring drop & poundage

cos its having its mot, and it failed because one of the springs has broke, so this 50mm spax kit wont be as low as at the moment?
im just going on what the demon tweeks guy said

springs dont break because they are too low - just get a new set of front or rear springs for it

Any other ways of testing the brake balance without slamming on the brakes. I now that sounds stupid.
But can dealerships do it with the brake testing rollers for the MOT

take a pic of the bias valve before u lower it, or get a pic of one from a unlowered corsa, then adjust urs to match! its on the rear drivers side
