Hi

I'm after a 'budget' alarm, when I say budget I do not mean shite, but I am not after a top of the range Thatcham jobby. I am basically after a nice system for less than £100, the main options seem to be TOAD or Microscan.

Has anyone recently got a an alarm from the 'C' range from toad ? or maybe the Sterling Pro ? Anyone have any comments on the Microscan 2XX or 3XX range ? I am presuming that talking alarms probably ask for attention, so that is not a good thing.
Does anyone know what a "Passive arm/Intelligent re-arm." is ? as the Toad alarms have it as a feature.

Thanks

Seirrah

dont get a microscan get a toad or a cobra. Its better to spend a bit more if your bothering with an alarm otherwise just get an led.

£100 installed is a bugger to get mind for a decent alarm.

Supply is over £100 alone.

Ok, but you can get many Toad alarms below £100, this is fine by me. Richie, I guess what you are saying is that there is no chance of a self install ?

The cheaper alarms you probably could install yourself but instructions are normally fucking unreadable

Self install does involve tapping into starting circuits ect, if you do it wrong then you'll have a car that wont start and a hefty bill from an autoelectrician.

"Passive arm/Intelligent re-arm" sounds interesting, you know what that refers to ? Did you manage to install it yourself ?

Active arm is when you press the button to activate the alarm.

Passive arm comes into play when you forget to activate the alarm, and the intelligent rearm stops it locking the doors if you accidentally left the keys in the ignition, and has a time delay of about 30-60 seconds after closing the door after turning the ignition off.
