can anyone give me a run down on how to change the gasket on the rocker top and what i will have remove on a x16 gsi engine to gain access?

buy a haynes manual for 13.99

will help you and has picturesso quite easy to follow...

Top plastic cover, upper inlet manifold, rocker cover IIRC.

yes u need to gaskets aswell, well it come in two bits and watch the little o rings!

yes i didnt fit two of them wel lforgot and ended up with oily plug wells
