EZ EVERY1
I THINK MY HEAD GASKET IS ABOUT TO GO ON MY CORSA. BASICALLY WHAT HAPPENS EVERYTIME I SWITCH THE KEY IS WATER BUBBLING/TRINKLING NOISE WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE ENGINE WHEN I SWITCH THE IGNITION ON SEEMS TO STRUGGLE (LIKE WHEN U PUT A GEAR TO HIGH AND THE ENGINE IS TRYING "TO "PULL" THE CALL). SO FAR THERE ISNT ANY MAYO INSIDE THE CYLINDER HEAD. BUT EVEN THOUGH I HAVENT BROUGHT MA CAR 2 A GARAGE 2 GET IT TESTED. I M CERTAIN ITS THE HEAD GASKET GOING. ALL I WOULD LIKT TO KNOW IS...SURELY ITS CHEAPER TO REPLACE THE HEAD GASKET B4RE IT BLOWS???
THANX IN ADVANCE

Well that would be a good idea.
You might want to turn the caps lock off too.

rite went 2 garage 2 find out more. Said the only way 2 find out was to put some chemical in the cooling tank and once the water has made a complete circuit the chemical will change colour if the head gasket has blown. However am kinda familiar with the process of skiming etc. So far its only happened recently in the last couple of days. So far there isnt any white steam/smoke from my exhaust. and there is no mayo in my car but the engine is drinking like a fish and there are no signs of a leak from coolant pipes. Also so far the engine hasnt reached the red in temp gauge but has bin close a few times, but I have been relentlessly refilling the cooling system to stop it overheating.
However I would like 2 know where I can buy a head gasket 4 my car. and btw. Will I need a compression test 2 determine if the head needs skimming?
thanx

They take the head off and put a straight edge across it.

its not about to blow, its already blown ROFL! they dont always blow bwteen water and oilways, they can blow elsewhere as well. Yous sounds like a breached waterway, but the lack of mayo means its not burst into an oilway.
Dont run it too much, get a gasket and change it. Half a day.

K. 2 More questions
I hav bin told that the stretch bolts when applying new gasket to engine have to be tightened to 110N torque. Is that correct?
How easy is it to change the gasket in a 16V engine?
