Just been on hold on the phone to Sky customer service before i got fucked off and hung up.
Only wanted to know if my SKy box was knackered - if it is then I was gonne upgrade to Sky+ and give them some of my hard earned but they wouldn't answer the phone - still doesn't help me get my Sky to work though!
I woke up and flicked it onto Sky, got the message of "No signal being recieved" yet the time on the Sky clock was spot on, so done the usual unplug, wait, plugin routine.
When it was plugged back in the Sky box in on but in standby, so I press the Sky button expecting it to all come to life like usual - but nothing - stays in standby.
Since then I have unplugged and plugged it in plenty more times, tried all the buttons on the remote and front of the Sky box, changed the batterys - pretty much everything without success, so I rang then to get advice and upgrade - but no answer.
Do I just say fuck it and upgrade anyway? Do I try their helpline again?
Ggggnnnnnnnnn!!!
EDIT: Just used their new "Ask me" facility on their website, glad that solved my problem...

Where would I find the "back up" button?
All I have on the front is a tv guide, info, the cursor arrows, a select button and that's about it
On a related note - I rang up Skys disconnection department this afternoon and said I was thinking of leaving and getting cable TV from NTL/Telewest, once I had said that I was offered an upgrade to Sky+ for £49 (a lot better than the £160 they originally wanted!) which I snapped up - it's being fitted in a couple of weeks

I did that a while ago, told them i was leaving for NTL and they gave me 25% off by bill for the next 6 months and was told to call back after and they could sort me a new deal.

If you have either the sports package (which I do) or the movies (which i don't) then it costs an extra £10 a month and if you're gonna pay that you may aswell get the sports or the movie package so it's free!
