Hi every1. I've got a corsa 1.4 6V sport T reg car. and my head gasket has blown twice in 3 months!!! :S I obviously tempted to get rid of the f*cker now but Im just wandering if this is common to blow in such a short time. basically I would like to know please if this is a freak case of bad luck or is it time to get rid of it!!
P.S BTW I hear 16V 1.4 sport cars blow their head gaskets easy. Is that true?

Was the head skimmed when the new gasket went on?

Shouldn't have gone in 3 months imho, who did the work etc? I'd take it up with them. Although, they could just blame your driving.

did you use new head bolts as the old ones could of been stretched to feck, if the car had been nailed alot previosly then they would be garanteed to be fecked from the extra expansion from the heat

if the block has been damaged. the cost to repair it. From what I know they can be very expensive. Is that true in your opinion

No point repairing the block if its damaged just buy a new engine for couple hundred quid.
But as Torsa g said its rare.

Your car could be 'written off' in your minds eye, as is not economical to repair. You obviously can't claim on the insurance for it though.

Where abouts has it blown each time?
No 4 to water jacket?
Same place each time?
I would guess at poor skim or poor workmanship but obviously could be cracked head or block.
Depends if you can see where its gone or not!

did they pressure test the head before skimming, did you also have the thermostat changed or the thermistor ( little temp sensor to giv reading of temperature of coolant) i had my head gasket done on my 1.4 8v and it went again because the thermostat was nackered also check the water pump.
