head gakset, head bolts, sump gasket, inlet gasket, exhaust gasket, coolant, oil, I'd probably change the rod bolts too, depending on the age of the car

A rehone maybe worthwhile too

If it's being rehoned, you'll want all the oil seals in the block, new oil pump while the block is out, water pump too.

Don't forget a new cambelt and aux belt.

how expensive, was going to see if a mate could do it for me down hos garage and i was just wondering what parts cost would be

Its cheaper get another block TBH
But again you take the risk that the "new" block is also shagged.

I think rings are £40/£50 alone last time i got a quote.

Aye rings about about that much from vaux iirc as warren.g did mine and I think thats how much they cost.
