hi i have just fitted a new headunit and when i turn it up my rear speakers distort when my subs kick in, all is fine if i disconnect my sub. both my sub and 6x9's are powered off the same amp, althuogh it is still all connected the same way as it was before with my old head unit and everythink was fine then. the only thing i have noticed is when the sub kicks in the green power light on my amp goes very dull to the point it could almost be off completly, although the sub is still working.
any one have any ideas? maybe battery dead/dying?(although its the same with car running) or do i need a powercap??
thanks for any help offered.
cheers chris

Line out may be higher voltage so thus gain set too high on the amp in comparison to settings for the old HU.
Mess about with the amp gains, turn high pass filter on for your 6x9's and low pass for the sub if you aint already.
Pioneer head units let you choose high pass filter crossover points for the speakers too, less bass outta them will let them go louder and stop them distorting quite so badly.

its weird though its not like normal distortion, it sounds more like interferance. i not what you mean about the gain on the amp needing to be changed because as soon as i drop it down on the sub the 6x9's are fine, but then the sub is set too low. i fink im gunna have to do abit of reading into my head unit instructions.

amps amplify what ever is put through them, even if its distorted.
are you meaning that your getting a buzzing/crackly sound?

its not buzzing but its distorting kind of almost as if the music is stopping and starting really quickly. but still playing muffled in the background.
